Start with the day you actually have

Check the forecast and think through how much of the day you will spend moving versus sitting. A system that feels comfortable on the walk may feel very different after an hour without movement.

Separate the walk from the sit

Carry an insulating layer where you can reach it. Adjust layers before you become sweaty, and add insulation as activity slows. Favor pieces that work together without restricting movement.

Rehearse before opening morning

Try your full system with your pack at home. Check sleeve movement, pocket access, fabric noise, and whether you can add a layer without unpacking everything.
